Ava Labs is joining Amazon’s AWS Marketplace to speed up Avalanche adoption by institutions
Ava Labs, the company behind Avalanche, announced on Wednesday that it will provide the crypto infrastructure through Amazon Web Services (AWS) with the intention of facilitating “enterprise, institutional, and government adoption of blockchain.”
Avalanche is a blockchain designed to work with NFTs, Web3 games, and a new technology called “Subnets.” Subnets are like custom blockchains built on Avalanche but can use their own token to pay for network gas fees instead of Avalanche’s native AVAX.
Ava Labs will offer “Subnet deployment” as a service through the AWS Marketplace as part of its deal with Amazon. This means that any business or organization can hire Ava Labs to launch a custom Subnet on the AWS platform for them.
In a statement, Howard Wright, VP and Global Head of Startups at AWS said, “At AWS, we are all about bringing the most cutting-edge technologies to builders, regardless of whether they sit in a multi-million-dollar enterprise, a government office, or a dorm.” We are able to do just that thanks to the brand-new capabilities brought by Avalanche.”
Wright added that as part of its agreement with Avalanche, AWS will support “new tooling for Avalanche’s infrastructure and ecosystem” and assist in expanding Avalanche adoption “to new geographies and customer segments.”
AWS GovCloud can now be used to store government-related data on Avalanche nodes. This indicates that Avalanche technology could still be utilized for public sector projects by government organizations that are required to adhere to stricter regulations regarding data control.
Emin Gün Sirer, founder and CEO of Ava Labs, stated in a statement, “It has been a huge boon for both individual and enterprise developers to be able to spin up nodes and test networks on the fly with AWS in whatever legal jurisdiction makes the most sense for them.” We are proud to have implemented a protocol that allows for near-instantaneous finality for millions of participants.
Sirer continued, “Our work with Amazon can accelerate the positive impact of Avalanche.”
Ava Labs’ addition to AWS Activate and the AWS Partner Network (APN) strengthens Avalanche’s ties to AWS. According to Amazon’s website, APN aims to provide its members with things like “growth tools” and “funding resources.” AWS Activate supports tech startups.
According to the announcement, AWS will also participate in future Avalanche-related events like hackathons, the Avalanche Summit, and Avalanche Creates.
A few months after Google launched its own Cloud Node Engine for Ethereum developers and Microsoft’s M12 fund led a $20 million funding round for Web3 data storage startup Space and Time, AWS introduces its Avalanche offerings.
